Conservative Comeback Badass of the Week

The Conservative Comeback Badass of the Week. This goes to the person who best stands up for conservatism during that week. This can range from a US Senator to a local city councilor. Do they stand up for conservative principles in the face of liberal mythology or do they back down to be friendly with the press.

This weeks winner isn't your prototypical badass. When I think of a badass, I go back to when I was playing basketball in college. We had a guy on the team that got thrown out of practice. He told the coach as he was walking out, "If you see me in the city walking down the same side of the street...you better cross the street." Kind of a badass line. Now this weeks winner wouldn't make you cross the street, but he also isn't insane and currently serving time for armed robbery of a cops house. So with that in mind, your winner is Sen. Jim DeMint

From The Politico-As Republicans seek a way forward after two disastrous elections, social and fiscal conservative activists off Capitol Hill are rallying behind DeMint because of his unrelenting style to force his party to return to its small-government, free market roots. DeMint, 57, said in an interview that he’s not dwelling on his previous battles with the GOP leadership and sees areas where his party’s leaders and the Obama administration can work together to solve the country’s problems.

I like the fact that DeMint is not only willing to take on Obama, but also Republican leadership, which has been an embarrassment over the past couple of years.

DeMint’s critics, including senior Republican senators and top aides in the Senate, say his refusal to work within the norms of the body — by showing deference to party leaders and chairmen

That line right there is good enough to get this award week in and week out. Somebody needs to tell those GOP senators and "top aides" that DeMint wasn't elected so he could come and show deference to you. He was elected to fight for the conservative principles that he ran on. So if you're not on board, cross the street, cause we got Badass roaming DC...atleast for this week.

  1. The Republican party is doomed unless it grows a backbone. I hope that Jim DeMint is the new face of the party.
