Badass Of The Week

Brockton Dad Protects Family, Disarms Robber

Boston Herald- A Brockton dad who wrestled a loaded shotgun away from a man who robbed his Brockton convenience store yesterday afternoon said he did what he had to do to save his nephew and wife, who stood next to him when the gun-wielding thug demanded cash.

“I jump on him and I got the gun with two hands and then he started fighting. We were fighting,” recounted Cape Verde immigrant 48-year-old Bebiano Correia, whose store, Universal Grocery Food Market was robbed Sunday afternoon. “He didn’t want to give me the gun.”
Correia, a married dad of six, said the struggle lasted two minutes, and ultimately ended with the thief abandoning his loaded pistol grip shotgun, swiping $200 cash and fleeing.

“He didn’t think I was so quick like that,” he said while at work this morning. “I didn’t know what would happen if I didn’t react. I had to defend my wife, my nephew was here. Maybe he wanted to kill us? My impression was to react very quickly and I did.”

Usually this is a spot reserved for political badasses, but today we go straight to a real life badass. There is nothing better than a guy going into a store to rob the place and then getting the shit kicked out of him by a pissed of owner.
