We don't need no stinkin' tea party

About a year ago I was at the grocery store and I saw this slovenly male wearing a t-shirt barely covering his stellar beer gut that said “I Don’t Count”. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony of the situation. Ever since then that’s been my go-to phrase in life. Example: Lindsay Lohan and her movie career-You Don’t Count. Anyone that identifies themselves as a Scientologist: You Don’t Count. Norm Coleman’s missing votes: You Don’t Count.

So is it really any surprise that the mainstream media has all but ignored the massive tea party movement that has mobilized at the grassroots level? In effect, the MSM has basically said to these individuals: You Don’t Count. Keep in mind the press was sympathetic to any Code Pink/Move On freak that gathered at the street corner carrying signs reading “We Support the Murder of the American Troops”. These same papers have suddenly found editorial discretion to not cover the tea parties. How very convenient for them. Living in Cincinnati, we had one of the largest tea parties at over 5,000 strong in attendance. The news did actually cover it as their first story that night. They had no choice as it took over the downtown for a few hours. But it was the way in which they covered it that was irksome. The ABC affiliate said they feared for their safety from a few of the protestors and had to remove their reporters and camera crews from the vicinity. I don’t doubt there were a few crackpots in the crowd. But that same report found no balance to that proposition. They didn’t even indicate what the tea party was about. They only interviewed Hamilton County Democratic Party Chairman Tim Burke. His quote, “Clearly the American public is strongly behind President Obama right now. These are scary times and they require some very desperate measures”.Yes, Tim with 5,000 in attendance it’s quite clear the public supports his policies. And we're all very much aware of the scary times we face as a nation. We only need to turn on Robert Gibb's dopie mug to be reminded of that fact.

If you want to find a tea party in your area, check out Freedom Works. They have as a great interactive map that will give you all the information you need. More than likely there will be one in your city this coming Wednesday.
