Why The Rest Of The World Loves Obama

The media and many in this country have been very excited at how Obama has been received by Europe this week during his trip to meet with the G20. They say "we are finally respected again." That statement couldn't be more false. They do not respect the United States. They are relieved at what the United States has become.

Whether you like George Bush or not, he did what he had to do to protect this country. That was his number 1 priority, and if Europe wasn't on board, that didnt change what he knew he needed to do. Much of this angered the rest of the world, but the alternative was to make America weaker and more vulnerable. I watched Bill Oreilly talk to Glenn Beck on his show last night. Oreilly thought that the way Obama was received would help this country because he could talk the Europeans in to doing the tough, necessary work that needs to be done to protect this country. This is just flawed thinking though. Europe doesn't now love us because Obama is going to be polite when asking for help. They love him because when they refuse to help, he won't call them out or do it alone.

Obama campaigned on being nicer to our allies and "listening." World leaders paid very close attention to this election. They know full well that the last thing he can do now is alienate them. Therefore, they have no added incentive to help, and don't have any worry that they will be called out for not stepping up and doing the necessary work.

Over the past 8 years America was basically the mother that dragged their kids along kicking and screaming to the grocery store. The kids hated it and began to resent their mother. She knew it needed to be done though in order to eat and survive. What we have now in Europe is not excitement because their mother is going to politely ask them to tag along. That jubilation is from realizing that they can now say no, and risk no punishment at all. In short time though, they will realize that those trips were much more necessary than they thought.

In order to protect this country, Bush had to start a war in Iraq? Protect the USA from WHAT? Saddam Hussein's WMD? From the al Queda that was not in Iraq BEFORE the invasion? If Bush had been interested in protecting this country he would not have ignored all those warnings he received before 9/11.
